GOLF TOURNAMENT GIFTS AND PLAYER AWARDS

What to give players, what to spend, and when to order — from someone who buys this for corporate events every week.

Gifts are the part of a corporate golf tournament players hold onto. Everything else — the pace of play, the format, the lunch — fades within a week. The gift sits in a golf bag or a closet for years, which makes it the cheapest brand impression on the whole invoice and the easiest one to get wrong.

This guide covers how we build gift packages for corporate tournaments: what to spend per player, which categories actually get used, how to handle awards, and the ordering mistakes that cost planners money every season.

Branded golf balls, tee gifts, and custom awards prepared for a corporate golf tournament

Budget Tiers

WHAT TO GIVE AT EVERY PRICE POINT

$15 – $35 per player

Tee gifts everyone actually uses

The baseline gift that greets every player at the cart. Keep it useful and keep the logo small — the goal is something that survives past the parking lot.

  • Sleeve of premium logo balls (Pro V1 or equivalent)
  • Branded towel, divot tool, and ball marker set
  • Logoed performance cap or bucket hat
  • Insulated tumbler or can cooler

$40 – $85 per player

Custom apparel and gear

Where most corporate tournaments land. Apparel is the highest-recall gift in golf because it gets worn again — size it in advance during registration so nobody leaves with the wrong fit.

  • Quarter-zip or performance polo with a subtle left-chest mark
  • Golf-specific outerwear (vest, windshirt, rain jacket)
  • Premium glove and ball bundles in a branded box
  • Leather-trimmed valuables pouch or shoe bag

$100 – $250+ per player

VIP and executive gifts

Reserved for client foursomes, sponsors, and leadership. At this level the gift should look like a gift, not swag — minimal branding, real materials, and packaging that presents well on the cart seat.

  • Premium range finder or launch-monitor accessory
  • Custom-fit wedge, putter, or headcover set
  • Leather duffel, travel bag, or Dopp kit
  • Curated gift box with apparel, gear, and a handwritten card

Awards

PLAYER AWARDS AND CONTEST PRIZING

Awards are what the room remembers. Budget roughly 15 to 25 percent of your total gift spend for trophies and contest prizing, and give out more categories than you think you need — recognition is free momentum for next year's event.

Team awards

First, second, and third gross plus a net flight keeps more of the field in contention. Engraved crystal or a modern acrylic tower photographs better than a plastic trophy and costs about the same.

Contest awards

Closest to the pin, long drive, and straightest drive each need their own award and their own tee sign. Pair the trophy with a gift card or a piece of gear so the winner takes home something they use.

Hole-in-one prizing

A car, cash, or a travel package on a par 3 — always with prize insurance in place and a witness assigned to the hole. The signage is half the value; players talk about the shot all day.

Non-golf awards

Best-dressed foursome, most honest score, and biggest philanthropic effort give beginners a reason to stay engaged through eighteen holes.

We run the contests behind these awards too — see on-course contests and hole-in-one prizing.

Avoid These

SIX MISTAKES THAT WASTE A GIFT BUDGET

  • Ordering one apparel size for the whole field — collect sizes at registration instead.
  • Oversized logos. A small, tonal mark gets worn; a billboard gets donated.
  • Ordering too late. Decorated apparel and engraved awards need three to five weeks, longer near peak season.
  • Buying the same gift every year for the same recurring group.
  • Forgetting sponsors and volunteers, who often notice the gift more than the players do.
  • Skipping presentation. A branded bag or box at the cart is what makes it feel like a gift.

FAQ

COMMON QUESTIONS

How much should we spend on golf tournament gifts per player?
Most corporate tournaments budget $35 to $85 per player for the tee gift, with a separate line for awards and VIP gifts. Charity tournaments often sit lower, around $20 to $40, while client-entertainment outings frequently exceed $150 per guest.
What is the best golf tournament gift?
Custom apparel and premium logo golf balls have the highest usage rate after the event. Apparel wins on recall because it gets worn again; balls win on practicality because every player needs them.
How far in advance do we need to order?
Plan on three to five weeks for decorated apparel and engraved awards, and longer between April and October. Rush production is usually possible but adds cost.
Should the company logo be on everything?
No. Keep branding small and tonal on anything a player wears, and reserve larger logos for bags, towels, and signage. Executive and client gifts generally perform better with no visible logo at all.
Do you handle sourcing and delivery?
Yes. The Birdie Zone sources, brands, packs, and delivers gifts and awards to the course, and we set them on carts or at registration before the first group tees off.
